Hotel Puerta Calakmul is an ecological retreat located in Calakmul, Campeche, Mexico. It is a very special place where resting, relaxing and totally disconnecting from your daily routine is natural. It is the closest hotel to the largest archaeological zone and biosphere of Calakmul. It is perfectly situated in the center of the main archaeological sites of the region – Xpuhjil, Becán, Chicanná, Balamkú, Hormigueros, Rio Bec, etc.

In the middle of this jungle, you will be able to experience all the comforts and services required in our 15 cabins, all of them integrated in the natural beauty of the place so as not to disrupt its ambience.

Calakmul

Calakmul, one of the most important Maya site set deep in the tropical forest of the Tierras Bajas of southern Mexico, played a key role in the history of this region for more than twelve centuries.

Located at the south east part of the state known as “The house of the serpents mouth” due to its elegance and decorative richness it is thought that Chicanná was a place for the “privileged”.

Its name comes from a herbaceous plant which can be found abundantly and is called “Cat's Tail”.

TThe first human settlements date from 400 BC from the Preclassic late period.
